History

Jack Dunlap founded Dunlap Sales in 1968. He and his wife Donna started selling needles and zippers out of their home. They hired their first employees a year later. Within six years the company moved out of the Dunlaps’ house into a building, incorporated, and printed the first catalog.

Today the business is still in the family and has grown many times with offices and representation in three US states and six international locations. Their son-in-law Bruce McInnis serves as the President/CEO. Since its founding, the company has added several major product lines to the sales offering including Juki, Union Special, Singer, Brother, Pegasus, Pfaff, AMF Reece, Rimoldi, Eastman and many others.

The company has opened offices in the United States, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, United Kingdom and Romania. In 2002 Dunlap Sunbrand International was formed after Dunlap Sales, Inc. acquired the assets and hired the employees of WG Apparel, Inc. (Sunbrand). This increased the company’s sales coverage and strengthened the position of the company in the Western Hemisphere.

The business is run today the same as it was at the start. Jack Dunlap’s mission was to serve the sewn products industry through timely distribution of equipment, parts and related supplies and services. The company still operates with the following values. DSI will:
